ART IS EVERYTHING

Hello, my name is Lindsey, a self-taught surrealist artist. Born and raised in South Florida. 

I’ve had a strong love for art my whole life. Every art form is a different way to express our most inner-selves and that's why I continue to create, to express and heal.

PHOTOGRAPHY

I’ve been taking pictures since an early age…always stealing my mother's phones and cameras to take pictures of anything I could find interesting including, myself.  My mother was into photography in her early 20s. When I turned 17 my mother gave me her old Pentax film camera and that’s where my love for capturing people and moments really started to hit me. On my 18th birthday I got my first digital camera and that's when I really started to get into portrait photography for the next few years.

I used to spend my evenings exploring my town and finding any spots that would catch my eye for pictures. I started reaching out to people over social media to model for me. Portraits are my favorite pictures to take. I love capturing how we’re all so different and beautiful in our own ways. Now I’ve been a freelance photographer since 2017 and still love the art form with my whole being.

ART

Alongside photography, drawing and painting are my second love. 

A lot of the women on my mother's side of my family are painters and artists. Being around my creative family growing up inspired me to search for my creative self through art forms as I got older. 

Lockdown in 2020 is when I started to reach for my paint brushes more seriously since prier, all of my focus was on photography. And during this time, I couldn't go out to take photos like usual, my creative energy forced me to go deeper within myself and find new ways to express my emotions, my human experience and spiritual growth.

Within this time period I learned that art has the power to heal. In every painting I do there is a story, coding, symbolism, energy and intention. My goal as an artist is to create art that makes people feel something, whatever that is.  

Moving forward into 2021-2022, I have continued to push myself to grow as an artist. I've been featured in multiple art shows in St. Pete and Sarasota, FL. I vend selling my art at local markets, pop-ups and art shows in the same area. As well as commission pieces and tattoos. 

PROFESSIONALLY

Alongside being an Artist and Creative, I have experience as a Program Coordinator for a Non-Profit Organization, Emerge Sarasota.

I’m an Executive Director for BLK PHNX LLC in Bradenton and Sarasota.

I have also been hired for:

• Social media marketing, strategies & website design

• Event photography for local non-profit events & others

• Concept creation and consultations

• Commision art

Art is everything to me and I will continue to create for the rest of my life. As I grow, I want to branch out to whatever art forms my soul seeks.
